Music And The Connection With Breast Cancer Survivors

Music – most of us enjoy listening to our favorite bands and singers. In fact, there are few people on the planet that don’t enjoy music in one form or another, which is why it’s not surprising that music and breast cancer survivors have something to talk about.

According to an article in the Valley & State, breast cancer survivor Lauran Fial of Scottsdale took music to a new level. This well known singer formed the first breast cancer survivor’s choir. Now there are plenty of different groups that breast cancer survivors find themselves involved with but this is believed to be the first of its kind.

In fact, they’ve released their first CD and the message is a strong one that only women fighting breast cancer and breast cancer survivors will truly understand. Each song was chosen for it’s message and the CD is packed with many great songs, but one “Fight For Life” was even nominated for a Grammy award. That was a real lift for this group of women who call themselves “the Soul Survivors.”

When a woman is first told that she has breast cancer, she is flooded with emotions of every kind. According to Fial it’s like having an out of body experience. This is the message that the song incorporates.

There are many ways to bring women together to rejoice about their survival and to work through the trauma of the diagnosis. Music is likely one of the strongest ways to do that. Music reaches deep into the soul, and the words of the songs often express what one cannot personally vocalize.

In fact, why should this one group “the Soul Survivors” be the only such group. Why not organize and rejoice in your part of the woods and why not bring women together with the common goal of providing support through all the stages from diagnosis to cure.
