Aggressive Breast Cancer – Finally Answers
There’s been a great deal of research being conducted on HER2 breast cancer because it is so aggressive and according to Science Daily UC Davis Cancer Center finally has answers.
They found that HER2 itself is responsible because it shuts down the regulator gene and provides an environment where the tumor can grow freely.
When they looked at healthy breast tissue they learned that the regulator was suppressed and it was this suppression that allowed the aggressive HER2 the ability to thrive and grow so rapidly. In fact it is the HER2 itself that allows the cancer cells to thrive and grow so quickly.
For us layman that doesn’t really make a lot of sense does it. However, thankfully for researchers it does and it is these researchers that will be able to use this latest information in their work towards a cure or better yet the prevention of the growth of these cells to begin with.
In fact, the results of this study could actually lead to new treatments that are aimed at restoring cells to their previous state. These new findings are leading to even more research.
Each year the lives of women are changed by breast cancer, and so are the lives of families. For some women there’s a second chance, but not all women survive. Research will one day change those numbers. Hopefully one day breast cancer won’t have to be cured because it won’t exist, and this research is just one more piece of ammunition.
