For a very long time there has been a lot of speculation about breast implants and their association with breast cancer. According to WDDTY Health Shop, scientists recently proved breast implants can be responsible for causing breast cancer.

Up until now many believed that breast implants didn’t play a role in the development of breast cancer, but rather made it more difficult for a mammogram to spot breast tumours.

Breast implants have recently been linked with anaplastic large-cell lymphoma , a rare form of breast cancer. ALCL is actually a form of non Hodgkin lymphoma. This form of cancer has long been believed to be linked to breast implants, but until just now it was not proven.

The Netherlands Cancer Institute did a small study which showed that you were 18 times more likely to develop breast cancer if you had implants.

So should women give up breast implants? Perhaps not yet, however you should consider that you are at a significant greater risk of developing breast cancer. Why not talk with your plastic surgeon? He or she will help you determine if you are at a higher risk based on your medical history.

Breast implants have come under fire before. In fact, silicone implants were off the market for quite some time only recently being reintroduced. Breast implants are really about self image, but do you really want to put yourself at greater risk, even a little bit?

Now that there is proof that breast implants increase our risk of developing breast cancer, you need to make a decision you are comfortable with.
