Breast Cancer Studies Use New Techniques
According to Science Daily breast cancer studies will be using new techniques in those studies. Professor of Cancer Pathology Ian Ellis received a sizable grant from the Breast Cancer Campaign that will allow for use of these new techniques in upcoming studies.
Researchers already know that breast cancer when the breast cell genes change and no longer work properly. Less than 10% of all breast cancers are a result of inheriting defective genes, yet all forms of breast cancer have gene defects at least in the earliest stages. It is these defective genes that cause breast cancer.
With the most common form of breast cancer there is the presence of a FEA cells. It is these FEA cells that are going to be studied in detail by Professor Ellis. The object is to discover which ones are seen in the very early stages of breast cancer.
The funds from the Breast Cancer Campaign will allow this new technique to be used in studies and with this will come vital information on early genetic changes and hopefully provide information that can be used to discover which women are at a higher risk of actually developing breast cancer and then intervene early.
