Laura Bush Her Role In Breast Cancer Research

According to the Associated Press Laura Bush in currently in Panama for the next couple of days promoting breast cancer research. Laura Bush and the first lady of Panama spent today learning about educational program exchanges between the two countries. Tomorrow Panama will joint an alliance with the US and other countries to promote breast cancer awareness and research. It was back in 2007 the Laura Bush assisted in the launching this program which not only encourages doctors to share information with the MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, but it also provides economic aid and clinical aid.

It’s amazing how much impact just one lady has had with a cause that is near and dear to her heart. And although we don’t expect every woman to take up the cause to the degree Laura Bush has, we can take a lesson from women like Laura Bush, Hilary Clinton, or even Michelle Obama – all of these women stick to their causes, ride out the rough times, and continue pushing for what’s important.

When it comes to breast cancer each of us has a duty to ourselves and the women around us who are important to us and who we love – mothers, daughters, aunts, friends – you need to know how to protect yourself, how to do a breast self examination, have a mammogram as directed by your doctor, and watch for changes to your breasts, which mean you need to see a doctor now not later. And you need to promote good preventative measures to the other women in your life.

Talk openly and frankly about the concerns you have about breast cancer, talk about your fears, and encourage those that are important to you to take steps to ensure diagnosis is early should they develop breast cancer. Remember the earlier the diagnosis the more likely you will have a full recovery.

Laura Bush and other important women often make it into the limelight but that doesn’t mean the work you do is any less important. Take a stand on breast cancer!
