Avastin Shows Promise In Breast Cancer

According to a news report on Reuters, Avastin has met its goal during clinical trials for breast cancer. It can now be added to the chemotherapy list currently used to treat breast cancer.

Roche Holding AG is the manufacture of this drug and they are actually the largest manufacture of cancer drugs period. There’s a lot of excitement over at Roche because they liked what they saw in the breast cancer trials. Perhaps women should be getting excited too. After all any new treatment is a good thing!

Avastin actually increased the amount of time women lived without the disease getting any worse and it can be used with any of the common chemotherapy treatments without any adverse effects. This is going to give doctors more options when it comes to treating breast cancer.

Avastin actually started out as a drug for bowel cancer so it’s positive uses have expanded. Any time there is a breakthrough in either the treatment of breast cancer it needs to be acknowledged.

There has also been some interesting information coming through on stem cells. We’ll want to carefully watch were that goes. Avastin is a drug that can be very beneficial in not only treating breast cancer but also in extending life expectancy and that’s important. With all the research that is in the works we can only hope that a cure is just around the corner.
