The Vanishing Breast Cancer Tumors
According to the US News Some breast cancer tumors actually go away without medical intervention. This seems to be a bit of controversy over this after an article was published in the “Archives of Internal Medicine” suggesting just that.
It used a case that involved a child who had developed a breast cancer tumor referred to as a neuroblastoma which went away on its own. Researchers are currently examining whether the more invasive breast cancers might also regress. Wouldn’t that be wonderful.
If you look at what’s going on overseas a current study done with 100,000 Norwegian women. What the study indicated according to their screening results is that when women aren’t screened as often tumors can come and go with no one being the wiser.
Are vanishing breast cancer tumors really occuring? It would appear so. How often? That still needs a great deal more research to determine. Why do they disappear? Of all the questions that need to be answered this one is definately the most important. Why do these tumors disappear in some women and not in others? Diet? Medications? Ones own bodies ability to fight the tumors?
Hopefully with ongoing research the answer to this phenomenon will be found and with the underlying reason for the vanishing breast cancer tumors understood it could play an integral role in finding a cure for breast cancer. Now that’s pretty exciting.
Of course there’s all kinds of research on the go and potential life saving treatments being continuously worked on. But every new bit of information creates a stir among the general population as we wait hoping this just might be the “cure” we’ve all been waiting for.
We will all celebrate the day women around the world no longer have to worry about dying from breast cancer
