Breast Cancer Support Gets A Funding Boost
Breast cancer research is always looking for funds that be used to continue the research to find a cure for breast cancer and at the very most find treatments that save lives. Research cost millions of dollars and it’s a lot of work raising the needed funds.
But there’s also so many support services that need to be funded and that’s why when a $375,000 grant was presented to the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center it was an exciting day!
According to Biz Journals the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer will support community outreach and patient services at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center with a $375,000 grant. And that’s just a small part of the million dollars that Wake Forest Baptist and other Charlotte organizations will enjoy thanks to the fourth annual Avon Foundation Walk that was held in October in Charlotte.
All around the countryside all kinds of events are held to raise funds and walks are one of the main methods of raising funds. Research centers, support groups, support facilities, and so many other organizations that are in one way or another involved in breast cancer rely on these funds.
So next time one of these events are looking for community help, why not step up to the plate, participate on an active level, make a donation, or be one of the behind scenes personal. It doesn’t matter what role you choose to take just as long as you do something – every little bit helps.
Think of all the women in your life – mother’s, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, ….the list goes on – anyone of these women could find themselves facing breast cancer. Why not help to find that cure we are all hoping will arrive soon.
