Mount Sinai Hospital Unveils New Tool For Breast Cancer

According to ScienceDaily Mount Sinai Hospital researchers have some exciting news. They recently unveiled a new tool that will help to analyze breast cancer tumors. This technology will make it easy to find the best course of action when it comes to treatments.

It’s very exciting that this technology can determine the chances of survival with an 80% accuracy. The most common cancer in women in North America is breast cancer. What Sinai researchers are hoping to be able to achieve in the future is to provide oncologists and breast cancer patients with a personalized analysis that will make them better informed and in a better position to choose the best treatment.

What’s so special about this technology called DYNeMo? The fact that it can actually analyze proteins in cancer cells, which can be used to predict the outcome of the patient thereby helping the oncologist choose the best course of action.

For years now researchers have believed that if they could do a better job of analyzing the cancer cells and thus see higher survival rates. Now they are that much closer. In fact, there is hope that they will be able to use this technology on other types of cancer too.

What does this mean for breast cancer today? A promise of a better diagnostic future. Our daughters, even our granddaughters will likely have much more personalized care plan thanks to this technology. Mount Sinai is currently looking for a partner to bring this technology more mainstream.
