Go Pink–Komen Site Review–Getting Involved
Moving on to the second stage of the Susan G. Komen site review, I wanted to delve into the Get Involved menu. When Susan’s sister considered the idea of helping women with breast cancer, she asked herself if one person could make a difference. What an incredible difference she made in the fight against this dreaded disease.
One of the wonderful things about the Komen Foundation is that they are heavily involved in bringing people together to fight a common enemy. The Get Involved menu details ways ordinary people can get personally engaged in the fight to end breast cancer.
The term “Race for the Cure” is actually a registered trademark of the Komen Foundation. People get together to walk or run a 5K race to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. If you want to know dates of nearby races, the Get Involved tab will help you find the dates and cities of races around the country. If you want to sign up for an event, click on that option.
Perhaps you would rather just give a donation to the Komen Foundation. Click on the Donate option and you will be walked through all the necesary steps to complete your donation.
Find a local Komen Foundation affiliate. Many different health care facilities participate with the Komen Foundation to offer free cancer screenings to women in need. The affiliate option lets you search for those facilities in your local area.
You can become a breast cancer advocate. The site gives up-to-date information on legislative issues that impact breast cancer research. The site gives alerts with a link to send in your response to the government.
Finally, the Komen Foundation has an online store that helps raise money for operations and research. Browse through jewelry and clothing that are flattering to the wearer.
If you are looking for a career change, the Get Involved link will take you to Komen Foundation current job openings. What better way to get involved in fightin breast cancer than to work for the Komen Foundation?
Explore Getting Involved for yourself. The Komen Foundation always needs more passionate people to help their cause.
