Celeb Power for Cancer Research

This last week was the power week for Run/walks around the country. It never ceases to amaze me that celebrities have so much power to bring news to a cause. Such is the case for the run/walk in Los Angeles.

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus participated in the 16th Annual Entertainment Industry Foundation Run/Walk in the warm city of Los Angeles, CA. on May 9th. Pictures of Miley and her mom were all over the internet quickly, bringing notice to this good cause. Miley took a moment to address the over 5,000 participants mentioning her amazement that the cause had been going on as long as she had been alive. The popular star acknowledged her desire to continue to help fight for her sisters until a cure is found. To see all of Miley’s comments, you can visit the Miley Cyrus Heaven site.

So many women take the breast cancer fight seriously only as they approach the age at which they have to begin watching for danger signs, say in the mid 30s and later. Miley’s participation in this prestigious event is a good message to women everywhere that the fight against breast cancer impacts the younger generation in a variety of ways.

Miley and her mom were not the only famous faces in the crowd. She was joined in her efforts by Christina Applegate, Jordana Brewster, and Marcia Cross. Hats off from Think Pinker to all of you who participated in the LA event.

Hats off to all of the volunteers who participated in events around the country in these past days. You make it possible to dream of an eventual cure for cancer. And thank you Miley, for taking part in this event and reminding younger women to be aware of the need for breast cancer awareness.
