More benefits for breast cancer patients who use yoga - emotional

yogaWe all know that any form of exercise goes a long way in helping the fight against breast cancer and it has even been posted in the past that yoga helps breast cancer survivors who are ethnic, but in the midst of it all I ran across yet another benefit that yoga can provide those who have breast cancer.

This benefit is not so much on the physical side, but rather the emotional side. In a study conducted by the Wake Forest School of Medicine, researchers found that women who partook in a ten week course of yoga for 75 minutes per week had an increased feeling of inner peace and many felt much less depression.

I am writing about this because yoga is a wonderful way to calm yourself no matter what is going on in your life and this study offers a great ray of hope for those that have to suffer the anguish of breast cancer. While the total overall benefits of yoga are vast, it is perhaps the inner piece that can be gained that can help those afflicted the most. As we all know it is imperative to have a positive state of mind when taking on the fight against breast cancer. If yoga can help breast cancer patients keep that positive demeanor, then by all means go for it!

The study was conducted using 44 women, half taking yoga, half not. The findings were resounding and published in the February 28 special edition of Psycho-Oncology. You can read the full article that I found by visiting Science Daily.
