Over 100 women show up to donate breast tissue in Indiana

ribbon1Over 100 women showed up, many who flew in from out of the state, to take part in a breast tissue donation event that was sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The event took place in Indianapolis at a tissue bank and the response of the women was overwhelming.

Researchers will use the tissue samples that were donated in breast cancer research as they try to learn more about how breast tissue cells look before, during, and after it goes from normal to malignant.

More events of this nature are currently planed and the next event is being held at the IU Simon Center in early November. In the last three years, programs such as this have successfully gathered over 700 samples.

ThinkPinker.com wishes to praise the women that have already donated for their courageous efforts in helping to one day find a breast cancer cure and urges any woman who can to donate. You can learn more about these events by visiting the Komen Tissue Bank. At the site you will find upcoming dates and all sorts of information as to when and where you can get involved.

Remember, we must all work together and do our parts if we are going to put an end to this dreaded disease that has effected every one of us in some way whether directly or indirectly. Keep up the donations and keep up the hope.
