If live in or near La Jolla, California and you already get your breast health screenings at Scripps Polster Breast Care Center, then they want you! The center is looking for 3500 women age 30 and older who have been regular attendees of the center for the last five years or more to participate in a study aimed at helping doctors be able to identify high risk candidates for breast cancer.
The center is looking for women who have never had breast cancer as well as those who are breast cancer survivors. The goal of the doctors conducting the study is to hopefully find patterns of genetic variants that are associated with high risk levels.
The doctors hope to eventually be able to identify these higher risk women so that they can get more intensified screenings and other preventive measures. These doctor subscribe to the theory that I love, the more you know the better off you are.
