Wind, rain, cold…can’t stop the fight
And I thought the Post Office was hard core with their, ‘Neither wind, nor sleet, nor snow.’ on October 18th over 17,000 people braved the 40 degree weather that was filled with rain and 40 mile per hour wind gusts to help raise breast cancer awareness by participating in the annual Jones Beach Walk in New York.
Even with all the adverse conditions the day still raised an unbelievable $2.8 million to help with breast cancer research. People began showing up at the event as earls as 7 am including an 80 year old woman in a wheelchair who recently lost her daughter to breast cancer.
With such bad conditions it would have been easy for all of those who participated to just stay at home in bed and sleep. ThinkPinker.com wishes to comend all those that showed up and thanks them for showing us all that in order to beat breast cancer, we must all make sacrifices.
What a success the day was, even though the weather wasn’t. It is great to see mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, and all the men in their lives band together to make a real difference. When we all work together we get closer and closer to the day a breast cancer cure is found. Way to go Jones Beach!
