White House sprinkles PINK for breast cancer awareness

whitehouse6In Washington, there is probably no more of a recognized site than that of the White House. Over this past weekend though, the White House had a change of color. On Saturday morning the columns of the White House that reside just outside the front door where decorated with PINK ribbons and left that way for the entire weekend. The ribbons were hung in order to raise further breast cancer awareness in this all important month of October which is of course National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In addition, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden held a symposium on the White House lawn in order to bring to light a true problem that is being faced by many breast cancer patients; how to find and keep quality health insurance. “In this country getting sick shouldn’t mean going bankrupt,” Mrs. Obama told a crowd of lawmakers and breast cancer survivors, “If you’ve already fought cancer you shouldn’t also have to fight with insurance companies to get the coverage that you need at a price that you can afford.”

Not only are the citizens of this great country getting involved with breast cancer awareness, but those at the highest level of government are throwing their hats in as well. ThinkPinker.com reminds you all that a breast cancer cure will only come when we all work together as one; no matter what our status in society is.
