Pensacola walkers raise $350,000 on last day of October

walkThe community in Pensacola, Florida and beyond all banded together on the last day of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and raised $350,000 for the fight against breast cancer. In total over 6,000 women, men, and children  showed up for the event.

The event saw the walkers started out at university Mall and ended at Cordova Mall in what has become known as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Mall to Mall Walk. This year measured the seventh consecutive year that the community of Pensacola held the event.

The 6,000 plus crowd was a record turnout for the event which came as a surprise to organizers who were worried about the weather. The 6,000 total participants also included over 500 breast cancer survivors which set another record for the event.

It just goes to show that no matter how bad the economy may be that people are still coming together and doing their parts to give what they can in order to help rid the world of this horrible disease.

ThinkPinker.com is thrilled to see such a public outpouring of support from the Pensacola community and sends out thanks to all those who took part in the walk. Remember, unless we all stick together and fight, we will never realize a breast cancer cure. Keep fighting and keep hoping; together.
