Florida breast cancer survivors and others raise $63,000

pink-2On October 17th 400 people, which included 134 breast cancer survivors, came together in Martin County Florida and participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, which was a 5K that honored those that have survived the horrible disease and raised breast cancer awareness. The event was a smashing success and it was recently announce that the group raised over $63,000 that will go to the American Cancer Society to help in the early detection of breast cancer.

The event was such a success due to many different large donations that the group called ‘Diva’ donations. The top Diva of the day was Danielle Steinbergwho raised $5,911 with team ‘Roz.’ The team was names in honor of her grandmother Roselynwho lost her battle with breast cancer. Martin Memorial Health Systems was a close second raising $5,854.

Just another example of how much can be accomplished when people come together and fight. Remember, only by working together will we one day beat breast cancer and have what we all want…a breast cancer cure.
