Vera Bradley gives $10 million for breast cancer research
Vera Bradley Designs is known for its quilted handbags, travel bags, and accessories, but the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer is known for its generosity in pledging money to fight against breast cancer. Today the giving goes on as the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer pledged $10 million to support research done at the University of Indiana.
The gift is in addition to the $10 million that has been given to the university since 1998. The IU researches say that the money that Vera Bradley has given over the years is one of the main reasons that their breast cancer research facility has grown from six researchers to now 34.
The foundation was started by Vera Bradley Designs co-founders Patricia Miller and Barbara Baekgaard after the breast cancer death of close friend Mary Sloan. ThinkPinker.com hopes that more high profile executives will follow suit.
