Woman fakes breast cancer tries to use funds for breast enlargment
When Trista Joy Lathern got the news that she had a lump in her breast she had to be terrified. When that lump was removed and came back benign you would think she would have been elated - instead she came up with a scheme.
The 24-year old woman was in a failing marriage and thought that maybe if she told her husband that she instead did get a positive breast cancer diagnosis that perhaps he would not leave her. The plan worked and she then decided to take the lie to the next level.
According to officials, Lathern set up fund raisers for herself in an effort to raise funds for her medical bills as she told donors that she had no health insurance and needed the money to pay for her fight. She even went as far as shaving her head to look as though she was undergoing chemotherapy. She successfully raise $10,000 and promptly used the money to attempt to get surgery all right, but not for breast cancer. No, instead this fraudulent woman took the money and intended to get breast enhancement surgery.
ThinkPinker.com thinks this is the lowest of low and is happy to report that she has been arrested and is being charged with theft by deception as the plastic surgeon who was to perform the breast enhancement surgery blew the whistle on the fraud. Let that be a lesson - there are still good people out there.
