Susan G. Komen loses their CEO

pink-22One of the most famous non-profit groups that helps raise breast cancer awareness and funds to further breast cancer research has had its CEO resign. Susan G. Komen for the Cure has announced that Hala Moddelmog has resigned her position as CEO and they have not said who will relpace her in the long term. For now Komen spokesmen are saying that founder Nancy G. Brinker will take on an even more active role in the organization.

Moddelmog’s reasons for the sudden resignation where not made totally clear but there is some speculation that it was a direct result from the United States Preventive Services Task Force -USPSTF- as it issued its controversial updated mammogram guidelines just three days earlier.

Komen representatives however said that Moddelmog resigned for personal reasons and to spend more time with her family and that the new guidelines had nothing to do with it. But Moddelmog has not commented on the situation which is what is leading some to the speculation.

ThinkPinker.com wishes Moddelmog the best in her upcoming endeavours and knows that Komen will continue to thrive though sadly without her. Please continue to support this wonderful organization in any way you can and work with them to help one day find a breast cancer cure.
