Komen suggests screening improvments
As I posted last week, the founder of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is not too happy with the new recommendations about not getting breast cancer screenings until the age of 50. As with many in the world, Komen officials are truly baffled by this move and have come out with their response about these recommendations.
They are indeed acknowledging that there needs to be improvements made on the screening procedures and the techniques themselves, but they certainly do not think that women should wait until they are 50 to start to try to gain breast cancer awareness.
Because of the levity of the situation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure has now put up a page on their website that is dedicated to their recommendations and the recommendations of those on their scientific board. You can view the findings here.
This is an important time in our history with all the changes that are coming in the way of medical care and treatment and ThinkPinker.com wants all women to stay vigilant of these changes. I will continue to post as much as I can on these changes as they pertain to the world of breast cancer.
Stay informed and never give up the fight to one day have nothing but breast cancer survivors instead of victims. A breast cancer cure is out there just waiting to be found, but we can’t find it with our heads buried in the sand.
