New study shows obesity increases breast cancer mortality
As if obesity didn’t bring enough problems for those who are suffering from the dreaded weight problem, now researchers in Denmark have noted how obesity can greatly increase your chances of succumbing to breast cancer. The study was conducted over a period of almost thirty years -from 1977 to 2006- and the results were nothing less than shocking.
According to the study, obese breast cancer patients have a 38 percent higher chance of dying from breast cancer within ten years of receiving breast cancer treatment as opposed to breast cancer patients that are of a normal weight. The research went on to suggest that the reason for the increase is the fact that obesity inhibits the effectiveness of the breast cancer treatments.
Really this should come as no surprise as obesity is known for shaping many different health issues. But it is a concern as we seem to live in a country where obesity is an ever growing problem.
