Breast cancer survivor and K-9 cop to retire
As I have posted in the past it is indeed possible for our four legged friends to get breast cancer just like us. So when I saw this story I had to write a post about it because it is so inspiring.
In Knoxville Tennessee there is a German Shepard named Tasja who is the only female dog on the K-9 force. In 2007 she received a breast cancer diagnosis. After breast cancer surgery and treatments for the breast cancer, Tasja made a full recovery and continued to work.
Today the police pooch is cancer free and after six years of service she is set for retirement this weekend. This will end a brilliant career. Since her breast cancer treatments she has helped to seizeĀ 11 guns, helped to recover over $40,000 worth of vehicles, and thousands of dollars in drug money and drugs.
Her reward for her long service will consist of her getting to live full time now with her human partner Pete Franzen. “She’s just such a part of my family, part of my personality at work, and one of the best partners I’ve ever had,” Franzen said. “I think it’s going to be a big adjustment for me. I think she’s going to do just fine. She’s already got her spot staked out in front of the TV.”
ThinkPinker.com wishes Tasja well in her retirement and I hope you all enjoyed this story as much as I did. Woof, woof!
