Women uses FaceBook to fraud classmates

pink-23

It seems that these days everyone has a FaceBook account. FaceBook is a great place to reconnect with old high school friends and that is exactly what Dina Perouty Leone did. The problem is that she did it for all the wrong reasons.

According to officials the 37 year old connected with old classmates from Dundalk High and told how she had Stage IV stomach cancer and how she couldn’t afford the chemotherapy treatments needed to survive. Her old classmates responded with kindness and donations of money.

It turned out to be a big fraud and thanks to some breast cancer awareness, she is now facing time in jail. Here is how the whole scenario played out.

Two women in particular gave Leone over $12,000 and even brought her out to Disneyland in California as that was apparently her dying wish.  When pressed one day by one of the women about the drugs she was receiving to fight the cancer Leone said Tamoxifen. While Tamoxifen is a fine drug it is for fighting breast cancer not stomach cancer.

After a report being filed and some research being conducted it came to light that Leone was making the entire story up and it is also now known that Leone has been in trouble with the law in the past for other types of fraud. ThinkPinker.com is disturbed by this story but certainly happy that the fake was brought to light due to some good old breast cancer awareness.
