Iowa State basketball goes PINK
This Saturday when you tune into ESPN 2 to watch the Iowa State Cyclones take on highly touted Kansas State, believe it or not you will not be seeing a women’s basketball game in progress. You may think so at first glance as the Iowa State Cyclones will be sporting all sorts of PINK.
Pink shoes and pink jerseys will all be worn in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness and breast cancer research funds. The Cyclones are in a group of four national colleges that are taking part in this effort and the game has been dubbed ‘Pink Out’ and will take place at Hilton Coliseum.
Being able to fight for such a worthy cause is extra special for the head coach of the Cyclones as his wife is a breast cancer survivor so he knows firsthand the effects that come with the disease. One of the assistant coaches on the team has a mother who is also among the breast cancer survivors in the country, so really this team is the perfect team to lead the effort.
Along with everything that the players and coaching staff will be wearing that is pink, the team is encouraging its fans to get into the action and don their pinkest garb as well. ThinkPinker.com will be tuning in for the game and hopes to see a sea of PINK in the stands.
