An aspirin a day to keep tumors at bay?
You know the old saying an apple a day keeps the doctors away? Well maybe the famed saying just had it wrong a little bit. According to a new study, which was just published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, taking aspirin on a regular basis after the completion of breast cancer treatments can help keep cancerous tumors from spreading throughout the rest of the body.
This study used the data of 4,164 nurses who all gave information on certain breast cancer patients and the finding were that those who routinely took aspirins to help themselves saw a 50 percent less likelihood of the cancer spreading. What welcomed news!
Though researchers are optimistic with the findings they are quick to point out that more research should and is going to be conducted. At least for now though it may seem that we are in fact another step closer to irradiating breast cancer for good.
ThinkPinker.com is excited by this news but also reminds all women who wish to go on an aspirin regimen to do so with caution. If you think it is something you want to do please take the time to consult with your personal physician.
