Pfizer drug Sutent fails in trials - Again

pink

The drug that Pfizer developed known as Sutent has failed yet again only this time with breast cancer. The drug had already been used to try to combat colon cancer but was halted last year when found to be no more effective than chemotherapy.

This is the second time in just one year that Pfizer has had to give up on the drug. Researchers were hopeful that the drug would have a better outcome with breast cancer but in its last trials the drug fell well short of expectations and was thus halted again.

Pfizer says they will continue to explore the drug’s effectiveness on other types of cancers, but has closed the book on it working for those with breast cancer. Pfizer also says it remains committed to developing new drugs to help combat breast cancer.

ThinkPinker.com is disappointed to see that the drug failed in its trials but is optimistic because Pfizer is not throwing in the towel. That is how we all must be; we have to remain vigilant and try everything we can so that one day we can live in a world with a breast cancer cure.
