Obesity +breast cancer =high emotions
A recent breast cancer conference in Europe has stirred up some emotions in many women. The conference that took place in Barcelona had researchers pointing to obesity as one of the key factors that can be fought in order to reduce the risk of breast cancer developing. Estrogen is a big reason that breast cancer develops and estrogen is found in the fat tissues so the more fat a woman has, the more estrogen they will produce.
What is causing such high emotion is the fact that the researchers went on to say that over 33 percent of the breast cancer cases in the Western part of the world could be avoided by a lifestyle change. No one wants to point any fingers and weight among women is a big issue, but more and more facts are coming out that suggest a healthier body is harder for breast cancer to take hold of.
Of course there will always be the increased risk if a woman has it in her genes but for the most part, an increase in diet and exercise could really help a lot. Knowing what we now know, researchers are also saying that while a weight reduction is indeed helpful not gaining the weight in the first place is the best way to help ward off the disease.
ThinkPinker.com urges all women to take the advice as just that; advice. These findings are not meant to single any one group of women out, but the fact remains that obesity in the US and other countries is becoming a real epidemic. So if you feel that you are being picked on please reconsider the position of all those saying obesity is bad as they are only looking out for your best interest and are simply trying to spread a little more breast cancer awareness.
