Avon Walk for Breast Cancer raises $5.8 million
The 8th Annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer went off as it has in the past years with much success. This year’s event had 2,560 participants with many more in attendance to volunteer, watch, and cheer. In all, the participants together raised a whopping $5.8 million to be donated to worthy causes for the benefit of breast cancer awareness and additional breast cancer research.
The event had the participants each walking or running a marathon or a marathon and a half. Just to give you some prospective on how far that actually is, a marathon is 26.2 miles and add another half to that and you get 39.3 ling and tiring miles. WOW!
Additionally, all who participated committed to raising no less than $1,800 on an individual basis. Just goes to show you what people can do when they are inspired.
ThinkPinker.com hopes that the 9th Annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer which will be held next year will be even better that this year, but is happy that so many people could come together and pull off such a great event. With action such as this, it is but a matter of time before a breast cancer cure is found.
