Debates make haste and confusion for women
Ever since the new guidelines for breast cancer testing came out there have been fueling debates. One side says that the new guidelines which call for all women over the age of 50 to get a mammogram every other year and for all women to stop conducting self exams, is just what the doctor ordered. They contend that too much was being done and that it wasted dollars and gave too many false positives.
The other side will say that the regulations should call for women to stick to the original game plan which included s a mammogram every year after 40 and conducting regular self exams much earlier than that. Honestly, in all that I have seen and read, there are more proponents on this side of the fence versus the other including Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
However, what all thisĀ arguing back and forth is doing is causing a great deal of confusion for women. Because many women are unclear as to what the heck they should do, many are in a holding pattern, which could ultimately prove to be a fatal mistake. Haste makes waste as they say and in this case, haste may make trouble.
ThinkPinker.com urges all women to talk to their personal physicians and work with them to formulate a plan that is right for you. Whatever you do, don’t sit on the sidelines and watch or you may end up doing more harm, than good.
