Popular Tree teachers walk to honor one of their own
In Virginia there is an elementary school called Popular Tree. At that school, well liked sixth grade teacher Crista Ziegler is currently fighting breast cancer.
To honor how hard she is fighting, some of her fellow teachers participated in the Avon Breast Cancer Research Walk that was held May 1 – 2 in Washington D.C. In the process of their tribute, the team also managed to raise $18,000 to be donated towards breast cancer awareness and breast cancer research.
Team PT Loves CZ was made up of eight valiant ladies and together they braved the 39 mile walk to honor a friend and a colleague. In a fitting end to the day, Ziegler met the team at the finish line and though I was not there, many tears of joy must have fallen.
ThinkPinker.com thinks that this is a great story and a great example as to how much we can all accomplish if we just get involved. By participating in a walk and helping to raise some much need funds, the fight against breast cancer will get easier and will eventually lead to the day when we can all say that we live in a world with a breast cancer cure. Keep up the love, the hope, and the PINK THINKING!
