Counseling improves survivial rate when breast cancer comes back

pinkBeating breast cancer once is an amazing feat, but when it comes back it often leaves breast cancer patients feeling both weary and defeated. In a new study that was recently conducted by researchers at Ohio State University, it was found that those who received counseling once the breast cancer reoccurred, had a better overall survival rate.

According to the study, the women in the test group slept better and were better able to cope with what they were going though when they had the support of a counselor. This is further proof that love and support are needed if breast cancer patients are to become breast cancer survivors.

Researches point to the positive physiological effects that the counseling had on the women and this point has been reiterated with many studies over the years. Ideally, we all want to live in a world where there is a breast cancer cure and all the pain and suffering becomes a thing of the past, but until then, support is so important.
