Teva puts out generic of AstraZeneca breast cancer drug
Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. recently said it received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to commercially launch a generic version of AstraZeneca’s breast cancer drug Arimidex. This is just one of the many drug patents that AstraZeneca has that are due to expire in the comping weeks.
While the news may be a bad thing for AstraZeneca, it is definitely going to be a good thing for breast cancer patients. Any time a generic to a drug comes out, it usually means that the drug will cost less, but do the same thing.
ThinkPinker.com is happy to see that those who are affected with this terrible disease will be able to get one of the best types of breast cancer medicines for a much more affordable price. As for AstraZeneca, don’t shed any tears for them, they have other drugs in the works that are patent pending and with the amount of money they are making, the company will be just fine.
Hopefully one day, we will all be able to look forward to a day where one big drug company gets to come out with a generic of another big drug company’s breast cancer cure. Until then, a lower cost on breast cancer treatments will just have to do.
