Moderate drinking - good or bad for breast cancer?

moderate-drinkingThere has been some debate for some time now over how moderate drinking is related to causing or preventing breast cancer. Now a new study suggests that moderate drinking can be linked to the return of certain types of breast cancer.

In a twist, the study also goes on to say that moderate drinking may be beneficial for other types of breast cancer prevention. Other health factors such as weight were also considered.

So, is it safe to drink? Here’s the thing, if you want to drink, just drink moderately. Don’t view one set of statistics that say moderate drinking is okay and then go on an all night binge. Most researchers agree that the definition of moderate drinking is four to five drinks per week, not per night.

For now it seems that moderation is the true key. If you have beaten a breast cancer diagnosis in the past and you are not sure if you should have a drink or two a week, talk to your doctor. As always, ThinkPinker.com is an advocate of knowledge, because knowledge is power, especially when it comes to breast cancer. Cheers everyone, but let’s keep the toasting light!
