Last year when Maura Tierney received a positive breast cancer diagnosis, it would have been easy for her to do what many in her circumstances do and just throw in the towel. Instead, she chose to fight and kept a positive attitude the entire time she was receiving her breast cancer treatments and still has a cheery outlook with the treatments she is currently under. Now she offers up some advice and reminders to women everywhere.

Tierney admits that she is fortunate that she was able to afford to take off of work while she was being treated and also says that her medical team was among the best in the business, but how she arrived at finding her breast cancer was anything but lucky.

Tierney was afraid to go to the doctor’s office and that choice could have cost her life. Now she is reminding all women to get checked each and every year, which is something that everyone raising breast cancer awareness should know. Only by detecting breast cancer early, do you stand the best possible chance of beating the terrible disease.
