I (Heart) Boobies bracelets back in the news and heading to court
They say any publicity is good publicly, but I wonder if the same holds true for breast cancer awareness. For what seems like the one millionth time in the past year, the I (Heart) Boobies bracelets are back in the news and this time it seems as though they are headed to court.
Once again it has to do with these breast cancer bracelets and teenage students. In this case, two female Philly teens have been suspended due to wearing the bracelets and have decided to sue the school.
The girls say that these bracelets help promote breast cancer awareness and get teenagers talking about the subject, which is a very serious one. The school contends that these bracelets are sending the wrong message. Now it will be up to the courts to decide the fate of the two teenage girls as well as the I (Heart) Boobies bracelets. For now, they remained banned at the school, but there are bigger issues involved here.
The girl’s lawyer contends that their civil rights have been violated and there is certainly one thing going on. By banning the bracelets all together, the school is in a way discouraging the youths to talk about breast cancer. With so many being affected by this terrible disease, is there really a bad time to learn about it?
