Breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery is one of the most traumatic and difficult journeys that a women can experience, with the emotional healing often taking far longer than the physical pain to dissipate. As a survivor, you are expected to move on with life after being given the overjoying news of being clear of the cancer, but all too often patients are left feeling mentally exhausted and depleted, unaware of how to move on to the next stage in their lives. As treatment support systems are withdrawn and family members and friends figure you are now ‘over the worst’ of the disease, the real business of moving on has to start. For many, the emotional healing is only now beginning.

Michael Mahoney, a clinical Hypnotherapist from the UK has spent the last 5 years researching and testing an exciting new CD Program aimed at this gap in the market for breast cancer survivors. Titled An Aid to Emotional Recovery After Breast Cancer , the CD has been designed to assist patients during and following breast cancer recovery, addressing the sometimes forgotten emotional healing necessary after such a traumatic experience. Creating a positive mindset to assist with physical and emotional recovery, the program has been reviewed and accepted in hospitals throughout the UK by a panel of numerous specialists, oncologists and doctors.

The aim is to provide emotional support for women who may not have access to this sort of program in their hospitals and communities, with future plans to make the CD more accessible through a network of resources and outlets.

The CD is currently available to breast cancer survivors at http://www.breastcancercd.co.uk/index.html

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day Event is now in its 5th year, with participants being invited to sign up once more for a series of 3 day events which will take place across the US. Commencing on August 8th-10th in Chicago, the 3 Day walk will be held across 14 US cities with women and men from all walks of life taking part in the 60 mile trek over a period of 3 days. After a long days journey, you’ll spend the night at camp with fellow walkers and crew members which is a little more than your regular campsite: With a 3 Day Cafe, nightly entertainment and shower and sink trucks for washing up, part of what makes the Breast Cancer 3-Day such a memorable event is the unique community that is formed at the camp.

Susan G Komens story is unfortunately too alike many other stories of women affected by breast cancer, losing her 3 year battle against the disease at aged 36. The love she shared with her sister Nancy G. Brinker, and the promise that Nancy made to her to do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever has made Komen for Cure the worlds largest grassroots network of cancer survivor’s and activists. With over $1 billion raised since 1982, the Komen Cure is dedicated to investing a further $2 billion over the next decade in research, education and breast cancer health services.

Many of those who participate in the event are amazed at their own physical stamina and the money that they are able to raise: The fund raising minimum is set at $2200, but over the years the average amount raised per walker has been over the $3000 mark. 85% of the proceeds go directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, whilst the remaining 15% is donated to the National Philanthropic Breast Cancer Fund which provides ongoing support to breast cancer initiatives.

With every day and dollar bringing a cure for Breast Cancer that little bit closer, have you got what it takes to step up to the challenge? Log onto the Breast Cancer 3-Day Site for more info, dates and sign up information.
